Once again we are faced with the sensitive and touching issue of when and if a kid is eligible to play. The USA team claimed the International Federation of American Football Junior World Championships with a 41-3 win over Canada Sunday, July 5th. in Canton, Ohio.
Playing on the same field as the NFL Hall of Fame Game, the USA intercepted a pass on the second play of the game, scored a touchdown on a pass play on the next play, and never looked back.
The USA team reached the finals with a 78-0 win over France on Saturday, June 27, and then a 55-0 victory over Mexico on Wednesday, July 1st.
Central QB Latest Addition to Bronco Pipeline
Central High senior to be quarterback Grant Hedrick has verbally comitted to attend Boise St. on scholarship starting in 2010. After Hedrick attended a camp at Boise St., and then returned with his family late last week for an unofficial visit, the Broncos offered a scholarship, and Hedrick accepted.
"No hesitation on that," Hedrick said. "I'm 100% a Bronco."
Mac Court To Be Venue For Both 5A Tournaments
The OSAA 6A Tournaments are headed for the Rose Garden in Portland for the 2010 edition of March Madness.
An agreement announced Monday, June 29th. between the Rose Quarter and the Oregon School Activities Association will unite Oregon's largest classification's high school basketball championships at the Rose Garden. The OSAA executive board met via conference call last week and unanimously approved the site as the new home of the OSAA/U.S. Bank/Les Schwab Tires 6A Basketball State Championships.
It will be the first time in Oregon high school sports history that the largest classification of boys and girls teams will contest their state championships at the same site, as the final eight 6A girls' teams will join eight 6A boys' teams March 10-13, 2010 at the Rose Garden.
